What is a Mala?
A mala (or japa mala) is a traditional string of 108 prayer beads used in yoga and meditation as a physical tool to count mantra repetitions, track breathing, and anchor mental focus. Our malas are crafted by hand starting with an intention and mantra that we repeat during the creation of each piece. These are powerful spiritual tools to aid in meditation and to accumulate energy from our mantra practice. They serve as a reminder that the divine is not far away and can be contacted immediately at anytime via our personal practices. Each bead is surrounded by a hand tied knot and is anchored with the vibration of the mantra. Always made with genuine crystals and semiprecious stones!
The Crystals:
Amethyst: Calms the mind and enhances spiritual awareness.
Lepidolite: Relieves stress and brings deep emotional healing.
Pink Opal : Nurtures the heart with love and compassion.
Howlite : Promotes patience, peace, and clarity.
Intention: This Mala focuses your practice on surrender, spiritual protection, and open-hearted receptivity.
Sacred Mantra : “Om Mani Padme Hum”Chant to awaken compassion and inner peace.
Chanting the “Om Mani Padme Hum” mantra is primarily used in Buddhist traditions to cultivate deep compassion, purify negative karma, and calm the mind.
Directions for use:
Hold your Mala in your right hand. Move one bead at a time using your thumb to guide and ring and middle fingers to support it. With each bead, take a deep breath or repeat your personal intention or mantra.
Tips: Do not cross over the large Guru bead, if you want to continue after a full Mala of practice, flip the Mala and go backward.
Keep your index finger completely straight and do not let it touch the beads. In yogic tradition, the index finger symbolizes the ego and is considered an obstacle to enlightenment.
