What is a Mala?
A mala (or japa mala) is a traditional string of 108 prayer beads used in yoga and meditation as a physical tool to count mantra repetitions, track breathing, and anchor mental focus. Our malas are crafted by hand starting with an intention and mantra that we repeat during the creation of each piece. These are powerful spiritual tools to aid in meditation and to accumulate energy from our mantra practice. They serve as a reminder that the divine is not far away and can be contacted immediately at anytime via our personal practices. Each bead is surrounded by a hand tied knot and is anchored with the vibration of the mantra. Always made with genuine crystals and semiprecious stones!
The Crystals:
Green Aventurine: The “Stone of Opportunity.” It aligns with the Heart Chakra, shifting your mindset to openly accept new paths, luck, and abundance.
Bloodstone: Connected to Heart and Root Chakras. A stone of protection, bravery, and vitality that balances and grounds your energy.
Tibetan Green Eye / Dzi Agate: A form of protective Agate connecting Root and Third Eye Chakras to balance energy and shield from the evil eye.
Green Sandalwood; Rosewood: Grounding woods that offer peace, heart-centered healing, and spiritual protection.
The Intention: This mala establishes a deep connection to your Heart and Root Chakras to both inspire and ground you, creating an environment that allows your dreams to be fertile and thrive.
Sacred Mantra: “Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” (Chant for 40 days to clear obstacles)
The “Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” mantra is used to remove obstacles, clear negative energy, and invoke success and protection before beginning any new endeavor. The deity of focus here is lord Ganesha son of Shiva.
Directions for use:
Hold your mala in your right hand. Move one bead at a time using your thumb to guide and ring and middle fingers to support it. With each bead, take a deep breath or repeat your personal intention or mantra.
Tips: Do not cross over the large Guru bead, if you want to continue after a full Mala of practice, flip the mala and go backward.
Keep your index finger completely straight and do not let it touch the beads. In yogic tradition, the index finger symbolizes the ego and is considered an obstacle to enlightenment.
